Anam Cara

Supporting people with a life-limiting illness

Who they are

Anam Cara Geelong is a community-funded, independent organisation caring for people with a chronic or terminal illness in a beautiful ‘home like’ residence. It was established in July 2007 by local business and community members who continue to support it today.

What they do

Anam Cara is located in Geelong’s health precinct and predominantly services the local community but people from regional Victoria and interstate can also access services. Over 15,000 people have been assisted.

Qualified staff and volunteers provide a day hospice program, overnight respite and end of life specialised palliative nursing care.

Anam Cara also operates a low cost accommodation program for carers who need to be close to the hospital caring for a loved one or for patients having outpatient treatment that doesn’t require hospitalisation.

What has been achieved with SCF support

Sapphire Care Foundation is a strategic partner and assists with funding for specialised nursing care to help people die with dignity and compassion.

Future Goals

Anam Cara receives no current government funding. The Anam Cara Business Partnership Program was recently formed to secure funds so that the operation of Anam Cara would be independent from other sources. SCF is supportive of assisting Anam Cara to achieve this goal and so continues to provide a regular donation each year.

  • 100% of your donation goes directly to the projects.
  • SCF is a registered charity with tax deductible status.
  • Funding of projects empowers not-for-profit organisations to support those in need to have a healthier and independent life.
